I was at first hesitant to eat at this steakhouse after reading some of the reviews here. After drinks and appetizers arrived, my fears were soon dismissed. Blooming onion was the appetizer; very delicious and not too greasy. I had the ribeye as my main course and I have to say, this truly was one of the most flavorful steaks that I have had in a long time. Very busy when we arrived, so service was not exceptionally fast, however, the staff and owner was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and provided excellent service. It was evident that they care about the business and customers. If you want a good steak, this place has it.

Great food, service is fantastic! The food was seasoned great, cooked perfectly, and not greasy. Great selection of foods, and the owners are very friendly! Would definitely recommend. Prices are average for a steak house. Definitely worth the money!!

Friendly. Ok steak. Reminds me of roadhouse. Steak over 20 Friendly staff. The steak was just ok and the insides reminds me of the Texas Roadhouse on steroids and that includes the prices. An individual steak started at 20 dollars. Couple of caveats: They do not give individual bills for parties of eight or more, and they charge a three dollar plate sharing fee. Also the tip is automatically added to parties of 8 or more.

I showed up on new years eve at 5:00 p.m. needing a table just for myself. The place was empty and I was turned away because I didnt have a reservation (or my party of 1 just wasnt profitable enough for them). Little did they know I planned on placing a $1500 takeout order to help some less fortunate folks bring in the New Year with some decent food in their belly. There was no need to explain this to the staff after they rudely turned me away...i just turned and left.

Good food and excellent service. The last time I was here it was all you could eat perch. It was more perch than I could handle and was extremely good. I've had steak and I've had the burgers, etc. Very nice people working here!

We've been here a few times and every time the food is not good. The last time was a freebie from a certificate we received otherwise we never would have gone. Got the ever present black bean soup. It had a wonderful burnt taste to it-yuk! The pork chops were overdone and severely under seasoned. My wife's food had to be sent back as well. Needless to say we won't be going back. Gave it enough tries to know this isn't a good restaurant.

I ate here last night for the first time. My daughter was home from college and wanted a steak. It was Tuesday so we tried the two entrée's for $22. She had medallions of tenderloin which was pretty good. I had ribs and shrimp. The shrimp appeared to be out of a box of frozen shrimp. The ribs were average at best. The place is just dirty, old and worn out.

The birthday boy gets whatever he wanted and steak was on his mind. Pulling out my handy dandy Yelp app, Galveston was one of maybe 2 steakhouses in local Michigan City area. With the decent reviews and not much else to choose from we head on over and upon arrival with the Western decor and the ribs and chicken, and onion bloom menu (there were other options) it definitely reminded me of Texas Roadhouse and cowboys, which in my eyes is great because I love TR. It took awhile for us to get service, but when we did things rolled out smoothly and I mention to our server we had a birthday to get his freebie dessert.. I went with a full slab of ribs and a side of fries ( yelp.com/biz_photos/we0x… ). These ribs are fall off the bone, tender, juicy, packed with flavors type of ribs, wow these had to be some of the best ribs I had. I was longing for more after I was done but I was so close to combustion that I had to accept I ate my filling of delicious pork ribs. The birthday boy took his chances with Galveston Sizzler Special ( yelp.com/biz_photos/we0x… ) and a baked sweet potato. What a generous portion, however, the beef lacked flavor and luckily the grilled onions and mushrooms made up for some of it. For a beef to be delicious in my eyes it has to be seasoned just right. (Of course being the birthday boy I shared my full-off the bone ribs with him.) He also enjoyed his sweet potato with brown sugar and cinnamon. The server brought out the birthday dessert and this was quite delicious. I believe it was a chocolate mouse layered in chocolate cake with a dark chocolate icing. A cake for all you chocolate lovers. I would rate this a 3.5, but I rounded up because those darn ribs. Any cowboy would enjoy it! Yee-haw!

I am used to paying big time for steak in Chicago and I was pleasantly surprised to get a break from the extortion in Chicago for steak. The rib eye i had was very good and cooked perfectly rare. It had a very good flavor in and of itself and no sauce was needed I was very pleased. The service was great ( Ask for Joe Stewart). He did a great job of taking care of us and helping us out. The decor at least from what I saw was really not much to write home about at all. But you know what. With the good value I received for my meal along witht he great service, we will be back for more succulent dead animal

I was visiting Michigan City. Pass by and decided to stop for a good steak. Very disappointed. I had the rib eye. It was chewy. The waiter asked if I needed a box to take the rest home. I thought to my self I didn't want any reminders of that restaurant.

We were looking for a steak house to eat at while vacationing at Michigan City so we stopped in. We had a really bad experience here the host was probably the worst host I have ever came across so we got up and left.

Had the shrimp bisque soup with our dinner and it was fabulous! Entrees were outstanding as usual. A great place for dinner something for everyone to enjoy.

Handled a request for a group of 11 on a Saturday night with only five minutes warning. Service was not particularly fast but was attentive and friendly, including frequent refills of coffee and remembering small requests. Food was enjoyed by all and menu was large enough to satisfy the various food limitations of the party. Typical steakhouse choices but also a variety of seafood, chicken, etc. Prices are very reasonable.

We were looking a place to go before the fireworks at the Indiana Dunes State Park. We chose Galveston's because it was a steakhouse and it didn't have a long wait time. We arrived at 6:30PM on a Friday night, told 15-20 min for dining. We didn't want to wait that long, so we went to eat in the lounge, which is over 21 and open seating. We sat down and it was very busy. We waited approx 5 min and a bus boy brought us menus, then approx 20 min later, we talked to our harried waitress and we order water and beer. She disappeared for another 15 min. Needless to say, they are understaffed. Completely. We sat there for 2.5 hours to get our full meal and check. The food was overly salty. We got the blooming onion appetizer which came out decently quick, and tied us over until we got our food an hour later. I got a the sirloin spring salad, I asked for medium steak. I got salty shoe leather that was cold. My sister got the chicken spring salad, salty chicken and it was warm. Her BF got ribs and fries and they were decent. My hubs got fried shrimp and baked sweet potato. Fried shrimp batter was hugely salty and the cocktail sauce was still frozen. The sweet potato was good. Beer selection is decent and the poor bartender (only one for a FRIDAY) was over worked. Our waitress had tables in the outside area, the main bar and 5 tables in the separate family dining area. She was sweating profusely as she worked. I felt terrible for her. We were there so long, we missed the fire works. Therefore we will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone nor returning ourselves. Management needs to step up and learn to run a restaurant.

Dave brought me and my parents here the night before Christmas Eve (Sunday). It has been a while since I've been to Galveston so I didn't remember quite how good it was. One of the best pieces of salmon I have EVER have. My mom, who only ever orders salmon at restaurants, agreed. I had the black bean soup with it (delicious, not heavy, had a very carrot-y flavor). Of course the bread is also fantastic (my mom always wraps it up and takes it home with her..) Dave had the chopped steak..which I didn't realize was basically just an enormous hamburger...was also super good. It tasted like an amazingly tender steak. We all had a good time...am glad that I have a new option I forgot about when I'm home.

Waited an hour to get an appetizer that was just ok. Server still had not taken our dinner order. Needless to say we left before placing our order. Service was horrible!

We stopped by Galveston to give it a try. I usually have high expectations from any place that calls itself a "steakhouse" because I am a discerning meat-eater. =) From another restaurant-app that begins with a "U", I found this and clicked on the menu link, and their webpage came up instead of the generic in-app layout. I am so glad that it did because that's how I learned that they have "Tuesday Two's - Two entree for $22!" promotion... and it was Tuesday! ^^ I didn't want to go overboard for dinner and this place was $$$ on that app, but this promo made me go. Enough sidebar, onto the experience. Atmosphere: Cozy and woody, as expected for a sort of "Texas" steakhouse. Spacious and inviting. Service: Service was pretty good. Attentive young man waited on us and we didn't have to wait long for anything. Food came out quickly. Food: So, for the Two Tuesdays deal, we got this menu with 4-5 entrees. We chose BBQ Ribs & Fried Shrimp, and Fillet Steak in mushroom wine sauce. You get sides each, so we got one salad with creamy garlic (the only homemade - i always ask for homemade dressing), and beef and barley soup. As for potatoes, we got baked potato and sweet potato with brown sugar syrup. BBQ Ribs & Shrimp (3.5/5) While nothing too special, ribs fell off the bone and were juicy, not too over-sauced which we liked. Shrimp tasted fresh and well-seasoned. -Sweet Potato - well cooked, very sweet, could've skipped the brown sugar syrup but some would like it I think... (I just don't eat too sweet so...) so next time, I'd ask for it on the side. Fillet Steak (3/5) The meat was juicy and tender. I asked for medium but got bloody center in center part. It's okay though. Sauce is a bit weak but I guess you could taste the meat better that way. I used Heinz 57 steak sauce to spice things up here and there. Tasty mushrooms. Nothing overly special but good nonetheless. -Baked potato - no complaints. well-baked and good fresh potato taste. I had to ask for sour cream twice cuz waiter forgot to bring it with the meal. Salad (5/5) Crisp greens and cucumbers. I am glad I asked the waiter whether they have any house dressing... because the Creamy garlic house dressing was made by the Greek owner lady and it tasted fantastic! Creamy with right body of garlic taste. I really enjoyed the salad. Beef with Barley Soup (4/5) Hearty soup with chewy barley and plenty of meat. No complaints. Added touch - as good steakhouses often do, they brought out the breadblock with freshly baked bread and butter. It was great. Dessert (3/5) - The special ended with a browny cake with one scoop of vanilla ice cream. Waiter didn't give us any menu and just brought this, so it's fixed in the deal I think. Nothing to write home about but good way to wash things down. Overall, this was an enjoyable experience. It was pretty full even when the rest of Michigan City seemed so dead since it was Tuesday... so that is a tell-tale sign of this restaurant's popularity, and I see why. Reasonably good food, GREAT value, good atmosphere and attentive service. You can't go wrong with this place. I'll definitely dine here again!

Food was decent but not great, especially for the price. I ordered a small filet mignon and it was cooked to correct temperature (medium rare) but lacked in flavor. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. I was surprised that this steakhouse doesn't have any real wine selection. We had to ask and the short list was unimpressive. The service was pretty good up until the end of our meal when he disappeared around the time we needed our check. The environment was too noisy tonight that I felt like I had to shout just to talk. The noise level felt more like I was sitting at a bar than a nice restaurant. Overall, there were better choices we could have gone at a similar price or less and had a far better meal and experience. I don't see a repeat visit in the near future.

This place is like Ponderosa just a differant name! The service was horrible and I will not recommending this slaughter house to any of my friends. However I would recommend this overpriced Sizzler to my enemies!

The food was good, but I have had better. The service was excellent. We were a group of 25 for a retirement party, and Galveston's was fully prepared to accommodate our group. The restaurant was a little smoky (we were in a non-smoking area) due to the bar smoke that filtered in from the open bar area.

Every time I eat here, I am not disappointed. From their hefty bowl of chicken parmesan to their juicy filet medallions, each entree is a treat! My favorite is the stuffed chicken breast...the homemade stuffing is SO GOOD. They have different yummy soups every day (although I'm not a fan of the black bean), and you get a half-loaf of bread with your dinner. You'll get the best deal on Tuesday nights, when they have their buy two selected dinners for $22 special. You get a dessert with it, too. There are also good drink specials during the week. The staff is friendly and always attends to your needs. The only drawback to this place for me is that they constantly play country music...I can only hear Garth Brooks so many times without going insane. But otherwise, they are much better than the chain restos here.

It's difficult to be objective with such a bad taste in your mouth (or lack thereof) We just returned from our first experience at Galveston. Disappointed doesn't begin to cover it. The dining area was so loud we couldn't even carry on a quiet conversation at our table. The lackluster and painfully slow service was further crippled by the volume. Then there was the food, the portions were generous but what were we eating? If it was beef you certainly Couldn't tell. Yes, the most flavorless steak I can ever recall having. Value? None! Quite expensive lesson and a guaranteed no repeat experience for us.

By far the best place to eat in Michigan City. Get the NY strip medium with steamed veg, and you may taste what heaven looks like. After you eat go get some beer at the Shoreline Brewery.

I liked this place. We live near by and in Chicago so I wasn't expecting much but I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised...great service, good food, and really reasonable. A nice surprise.

We were asked to photograph an event at Galveston's and had never tried it. We were so pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent! The staff was extremely helpful! We spoke to the owner to brag on the good food and he told us that everything was made from scratch everyday. The black bean soup was really tasty!

First of all I never eat a burger at a restaurant that doesn't specialize in burgers, until now. I ate part of my daughters burger and I loved it. The price is slightly high but worth it and I also love the perch and their fresh vegetables. I've been there 3 times and not once had bad service.

My Girlfriend and I went to this restaurant to try something new and different. We were somewhat disappointed. We both ordered steaks, medium well. My steak was okay but my girlfriend's was quite rare. We brought this up to our waitress' attention, who did nothing more than bring us the bill. I doubt that we'll be going back. Even my soda/pop tasted watered down. My steak was a bit on the bland side, but the sweet potato was good. :-/ Definitely not worth the price.
